Frequently Asked Questions

Are you fully trained and insured?

Yes. We have completed NEBOSH-endorsed, City & Guilds Assured training with leading industry experts and chemical manufacturers. Our team are also registered users of professional biocides and fully insured (up to £5 million). This means every job is carried out responsibly, safely, and in line with industry best practices.

Do I need to be home for the cleaning?

Not usually.
As long as we have access to the outdoor areas and an outside tap where required, we can complete the work while you’re out.
You’ll return to a clean, restored property.

We provide clear, fixed prices with no hidden fees.

Do you offer weekend or evening appointments?

Yes — we offer flexible time slots and can work around your schedule wherever possible.

Driveway & Patio Cleaning FAQ

Can pressure washing damage my driveway or patio?

If done incorrectly, yes — high pressure can damage delicate stone, dislodge pointing, lift jointing sand or mark certain surfaces.
That’s why we never use a “one-pressure-fits-all” approach.

We use the correct pressure for each material, along with soft-washing treatments when needed, ensuring a safe, effective clean with no damage.

Do you re-sand block paving after cleaning?

Yes. Once the surface has dried, we reapply kiln-dried sand to refill the joints — included at no extra cost.

Can you remove black spot?

Yes — we use professional biocides and specialist treatments that break down black spot at the root.
Although no company can guarantee 100% removal (sometimes it is too deeply embedded), we always give 100% effort to achieve the best possible results.

How long does driveway or patio cleaning take?

Most jobs are completed within a few hours, depending on size, condition and access.

Roof Cleaning FAQ

Do you use high pressure on roofs?

No — high pressure on roofs can be unsafe and can cause serious damage.

We clean roofs using:

  • Manual moss removal
  • Softwashing treatments
  • Low-pressure where appropriate

This protects your tiles and ensures long-lasting results.

Will roof cleaning damage my tiles?

When done incorrectly, yes — but our methods are specifically designed to prevent this.
We use gentle techniques and work safely to ensure no lifting, cracking or water intrusion.

Does softwashing keep the roof clean for long?

Yes — softwash biocide continues working over several weeks, keeping the roof cleaner for significantly longer than pressure alone.

Gutter Cleaning FAQ

How do you clean gutters safely?

We use industrial high-reach vacuum systems, allowing us to remove debris from the ground with zero risk to your gutters or roofline.

Can you unblock downpipes?

Yes — downpipes are checked and cleared as standard.

Do you clean fascias and soffits too?

Yes — fascia & soffit cleaning can be added to any gutter service.

Render & Building Cleaning FAQ

Will softwashing damage my render?

No — softwashing is the correct method for render.
High pressure can crack, etch or mark render, which is why we never use it.

Our gentle, controlled softwash treatments clean safely and preserve structural integrity.

Can you remove red, green and black algae?

Yes — our biocide-based treatments break down organic growth and restore your render’s original appearance.

How long does render stay clean?

Typically 2–4 years depending on shade, drainage, and surrounding vegetation.

Decking & Cladding Cleaning FAQ

Will pressure washing damage timber decking?

If done with high pressure, absolutely — it can strip fibres and cause splintering.
That’s why we use low-pressure and softwash systems tailored specifically to wood.

Do you offer decking oiling or treatment?

Yes — we can sand and oil decking after cleaning for a complete restoration.

Do you clean all types of cladding?

Yes — UPVC, composite, metal, timber and painted cladding.
Each material is cleaned using the correct method for safe results.

Solar Panel & Conservatory Roof FAQ

Do you walk on roofs to clean solar panels?

No — walking on roofs is unsafe and can damage tiles and panels.
We clean using long-reach poles, scaffold towers or cherry pickers when needed.

Do you use chemicals on solar panels?

We use a combination of pure water and panel-safe softwash solutions to safely remove stubborn organic buildup.

Will cleaning improve my solar efficiency?

Yes — dirt, bird mess and algae can significantly reduce light absorption.
Clean panels perform noticeably better.

Commercial Cleaning FAQ

Do you provide Risk Assessments and insurance documents?

Yes — RAMS, public liability, COSHH and all documentation can be provided for commercial sites.

Can you clean outside business hours?

Yes — evening and weekend work is available to avoid disruption.

What commercial properties do you clean?

Shops, offices, restaurants, pubs, warehouses, schools, factories, rental properties and more.

Pricing & Booking FAQ

How much does exterior cleaning cost?

Exterior cleaning costs can vary depending on the surface, condition, access, and cleaning method required.

Every job is different, but all quotes are fair, fixed, and fully transparent — with no hidden fees.

Why are some exterior cleaning quotes cheaper than others?

Exterior cleaning prices can vary depending on the standards being followed, the equipment and chemicals used, levels of training, insurance cover, and the cleaning methods chosen for the job.

Lower prices can sometimes reflect differences in these areas. Operating as a fully registered and legitimate business comes with real costs, but helps ensure work is carried out safely and surfaces are properly protected.

At Gosfield Exterior Cleaning, we aim to keep our pricing fair and competitive. However, our priority is always protecting your property and delivering safe, long-lasting results, rather than competing on price alone.

How soon can you book me in?

We can usually book most jobs within 2–3 weeks, depending on availability and weather conditions.

Spring and summer are typically our busiest periods, so we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept a range of convenient payment methods, including bank transfer and cash. Payment details will always be clearly provided on your written quote or invoice.

If you have any questions about payment options, just let us know — we’re always happy to help and will make the process as simple and transparent as possible.
